aku hidup dek tuhan . aku kekal dek al quran .
In the East the soul looks in vain for light;

In the West the light is a faded cloud of dust.

The fakirs who could shatter the power and pelf of kings

No longer tread this earth, in climes far or near.

The spirit of this age is brimful with negations,

And drained to the fast drop is the power of faith.

Muted is Europe’s lament on its crumbling pageant,

Muted by the delirious beats, the clangour of its music.

A sleepy ripple awaits, to swell into a wave

A wave that will swallow up monsters of the sea.

What is slavery but a loss of the sense of beauty?

What the free call beautiful, is beautiful indeed.

The present belongs to him who explores, in their depths,

The fathomless seas of time, to find the future’s pearl.

The alchemist of the West has turned stone into glass

But my alchemy has transmuted glass into flint

Pharaohs of today have stalked me in vain;

But I fear not; I am blessed with Moses’ staff  ;

Salam my dear readers.

As you know , today i will be participating in a holy event – Musabaqah Tilawah Al Quran Kebangsaan 2009 – Peringkat Belia . Haha . (: I am kinda having a nervous breakdown now but trying my hard-est to suppress those superfluous anxiety . I don’t understand . Why am i so afraid of reading Allah’s words to approximately 100 people? Haha . Quite sad to learn that there are only 30 participants . 15 qariahs & 15- qaris . If i get chosen , i will straightaway get into the finals . Haha . Whatever it is  , i leave it to God . It’s HIS decision . Just happy to have participated in such an event which is celebrated by 1409 pests . ( haha . according to papa’s statistics ) Please doa for me ya . (: I just hope that i don’t make a fool of myself up there on stage . I have been reading quran for 13 years now . I ain’t gonna back up last minute . because…

I am the one I have been waiting for .

peace.

ashwaq[ love, affections]

Salam to all my dear readers.

As you know , i have been M.I.A.-ing for quite sometime already and i guess that i should start posting when i have the time . Which is now . Today , i would like to share with all of you my personal problem . One which i haven’t shared with anyone except for the one with the Mighty Ears- Allah Azza Wajal . Well , here goes .

People just don’t understand me . They judge me by my exterior . They never questioned my interior . As a human being , a normal ordinary human being , my feelings do fluctuate . One moment , i can be so determined to change for the better. Wear tudung , lower my gaze for men , talk less listen more . But the next , i find myself exposing my hair , wanting to have more male friends , becoming more extrovert than before . Right at the beginning of 2009 , i told myself . ” Farah , you have to change . You have to be a quieter person . ” But it never happened . Last 2 years, i listened to Quran recitations more than songs . But now , it’s the other way round . Sometimes i wonder. Am i having problems in morphing myself into someone more reputable or is it just my surrounding that is keeping me from doing so ? I don’t know . I yearned to change and there were times when my mouth inadvertently said ” How i wish i was dumb ( unable to talk )” . Na`uzubillah . My relationships have always been a failure because my feelings fluctuate super easily . Ps: I choose to remain single until university (: Wink !  I don’t think i ever loved any guy more than my father . My abah . My source of happiness and sadness. His smile brings joy to the world . His melancholy brings nothing but dark clouds over me .

Anyway , i have decided to change again . Maybe i will start changing again and again and again until my iman has reached its peak (: Please pray for me , though some of the readers may not know me , but we are siblings in Islam . There’s nothing wrong to pray for another muslimah/muslim. :D

can you walk the talk ?

peace.

Islamic Jokes

Salam all .

I was just browsing around and found this super cool webbie (:

Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw) said: “Do not laugh too much, for laughing too much deadens the heart.” At another place, Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw) said: “If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much.”

The amount of joking should be like the amount of salt in one’s food.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not laugh too much, for laughing too much deadens the heart.” (Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7312)

‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “Whoever laughs too much or jokes too much loses respect, and whoever persists in doing something will be known for it.”

So beware of joking, for it “causes a person to lose face after he was thought of as respectable, and it brings him humiliation after esteem.”

A man said to Sufyaan ibn ‘Uyaynah (may Allah be pleased with him), “Joking is not right, it is to be denounced.” He replied, “Rather it is Sunnah, but only for those who know how to do it and do it at the appropriate time.”

I hope this jokes could at least make us smile because i did (:

  1. An old woman came to the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala) that I will enter Paradise.” He said jokingly, “O Mother of So-and-so, no old women will enter Paradise.” The old woman went away crying, so the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, “Tell her that she will not enter Paradise as an old woman, for Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala) says: (We have created [their Companions] of special creation, and made them virgin-pure [and undefiled]) (Qur’an 56:35-36).” Reported by al-Tirmidhi, it is hasan because of the existence of corroborating reports.
  2. An Imam was selling his horse in the market. An interested buyer came to him and requested if he could get a test drive. The Imam told the man that this horse is unique. In order to make it walk, you have to say Subhanallah. To make it run, you have to say Alhamdulillah and to make it stop, you have to say Allahu Akbar. The man sat on the horse and said Subhanallah. The horse started to walk. Then he said Alhamdulillah and it started to run. He kept saying Alhamdulillah and the horse started running faster and faster. All of a sudden the man noticed that the horse is running towards the edge of the hill that he was riding on. Being overly fearful, he forgot how to stop the horse. He kept saying all these words out of confusion. When the horse was just near the edge, he remembered Allahu Akbar and said it out loud. The horse stopped just one step away from the edge. The man took a deep breath, looked up towards the sky and said Alhamdulillah!
  3. One day some wise men, who were going about the country trying to find answers to some of the great questions of their time, came to Mulla Nasruddin’s district and asked to see the wisest man in the place. Mulla Nasruddin was brought forward, and a big crowd gathered to listen. The first wise man began by asking, “Where is the exact center of the world?”

“It is under my right heel,” answered Mulla Nasruddin.

“How can you prove that?” asked the first wise man.

“If you don’t believe me,” answered Mulla Nasruddin, “measure and see.”

The first wise man had nothing to answer to that, so the second wise man asked his question. “How many stars are there in the sky?” he said. “As many as there are hairs on my donkey,” answered Mulla Nasruddin.

“What proof have you got of that?” asked the second wise man.

“If you don’t believe me,” answered Mulla Nasruddin, “count the hairs on my donkey and you will see.”

“That’s foolish talk,” said the other. “How can one count the hairs on a donkey?”

“Well,” answered Mulla Nasruddin, “How can one count the stars in the sky? If one is foolish talk, so is the other.” The second wise man was silent.

The third wise man was becoming annoyed with Mulla Nasruddin and his answers, so he said, “You seem to know a lot about your donkey, so can you tell me how many hairs there are in its tail?”

“Yes,” answered Mulla Nasruddin. “There are exactly as many hairs in its tail as there are in your beard.”

“How can you prove that?” said the other.

“I can prove it very easily,” answered Mulla Nasruddin. “You can pull one hair out of my donkey’s tail for every one I pull out of your beard. If the hairs on my donkey’s tail do not come to an end at exactly the same time as the hairs in your beard, I will admit that I was wrong.”

Of course, the third wise man was not willing to do this, so the crowd declared Mulla Nasruddin the winner of the day’s arguments.

  4. One day, Mulla Nasruddin said to his friends: “If I die, bury me in an old grave.” “Why”, asked his friends. “Because”, he explained, “if the angels come, I’ll tell them that I died years before and have already been questioned and then they will return the way they came.”
  5. The wit and wisdom of Mulla Nasruddin never leaves him tongue-tied. One day an illiterate man came to Mulla Nasruddin with a letter he had received.

Mulla Nasruddin, please read this letter to me. Mulla Nasruddin looked at the letter, but could not make out a single word. So he told the man.

I am sorry, but I cannot read this. The man cried:

Shame, Mulla Nasruddin! You must be ashamed before the turban you wear (i.e. the sign of education).

Mulla Nasruddin removed the turban from his own head and placed it on the head of the illiterate man, said:

There, now you wear the turban. If it gives some knowledge, read the letter yourself.

  6. The Imam of a masjid, who was also a father of two young children, was about to enter the majid to give the Khutbah (Friday sermon). Before he entered he reminded them to be quiet – especially when he is giving his khutbah.

He then asked his children, “And why is it necessary to be quiet during Jummah?”

Little Ahmed jumped up and yelled, “Because people are all sleeping!”

  7. Two old worn-out bills arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. One was a tattered $1 dollar bill and the other was a worn $20 bill. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the county. “I’ve had a pretty good life,” the twenty proclaimed. “Why I’ve been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the finest restaurants in New York, performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean.” “Wow!” said the one dollar bill. “You’ve really had an exciting life!” “So tell me,” says the twenty, “where have you been throughout your lifetime?” The one dollar bill replies, “Oh, I’ve been to the Masjid on Main Street, the Masjid on 4th street, the Masjid down town…” The twenty dollar bill interrupts, “What’s a Masjid?”
  8. Two men were on a plane on a business trip when a Muslim couple boarded the plane and were seated right in front of them. The two men, eager to have some fun, started talking loudly. “My boss is sending me to Saudi Arabia”, the one said, “But I don’t want to go…too many Muslims there!” The Muslim couple noticeably heard and grew uncomfortable. The other guy laughed, “Oh, yeah, my boss wanted to send me to Pakistan but I refused…WAY too many Muslims!” Smiling, the first man said, “One time I was in Iran but I HATED the fact that there were so many Muslims!” The couple fidgeted. The other guy responded, “Oh, yeah…you can’t go ANYWHERE to get away from them…the last time I was in FRANCE I ran into a bunch of them too!” The first guy was laughing hysterically as he added, “That is why you’ll never see me in Indonesia…WAY too many Muslims!” At this, the Muslim man turned around and responded politely, “Why don’t you go to Hell?”, he asked, “I hear there’s not very many Muslims THERE!”
  9. Once, the people of the city invited Mulla Nasruddin to deliver a speech. When he got on the minbar (pulpit), he found the audience was not very enthusiastic, so he asked “Do you know what I am going to say?” The audience replied “NO”, so he announced “I have no desire to speak to people who don’t even know what I will be talking about” and he left. The people felt embarrassed and called him back again the next day. This time when he asked the same question, the people replied “YES” So Mullah Nasruddin said, “Well, since you already know what I am going to say, I won’t waste any more of your time” and he left. Now the people were really perplexed. They decided to try one more time and once again invited the Mullah to speak the following week. Once again he asked the same question – “Do you know what I am going to say?” Now the people were prepared and so half of them answered “YES” while the other half replied “NO”. So Mullah Nasruddin said “The half who know what I am going to say, tell it to the other half” and he left!

I enjoyed all those jokes people (: I hope you guys did too (:

Salam .

Zahwah{Beauty, Pretty }

Peace (:

Let me keep the posts flowing first alright(: Okay ,  i received an email recently from a Berita Harian Journalist. I find it interesting so i decided to share it with you guys . I know , [ Aww. Farah ! So Sweet ] I know you guys are dying to say that . But the words won’t come out . Lol . (: Perah – San . Haiyoh !. Okay , the email goes like this.

Wake up 4 Fajr Solah

A man woke up early in order to pray the Fajr Prayer  at the masjid. He got dressed, made his ablution and was on his way to the masjid. On his way to the masjid, the man fell and his clothes got dirty.
He got up, brushed himself off, and headed home. At home, he changed his clothes, made his ablution, and was, again, on his way to the masjid.

On his way to the masjid, he fell again and at the same spot! He, again, got up, brushed himself off and headed home. At home he, once again, changed his clothes, made his ablution and was on his way to the masjid.

On his way to the masjid, he met a man holding a lamp. He asked the man of his identity and the man replied I saw you fall twice on your way to the masjid, so I brought a lamp so I can light your way.’ The first man thanked him profusively and the two where on their way to the masjid.

Once at the masjid, the first man asked the man with the lamp to come in and pray Fajr with him. The second man refused. The first man asked him a couple more times and, again, the answer was the same. The first man asked him why he did not wish to come in and pray. The man replied,

‘I am Satan (devil/evil)’
The man was shocked at this reply. Satan went on to explain, ‘I saw you on your way to the masjid and it was I who made you fall. When you went home, cleaned yourself and went back on your way to the masjid, Allah forgave all of your sins.
I made you fall a second time, and even that did not encourage you to stay home, but rather, you went back on your way to the masjid.
Because of that, Allah forgave all the sins of the people of your household ..

I was AFRAID if i made you fall one more time, then Allah will forgive the sins of the people of your village , so i made sure that you reached the masjid safely!’
So do not let Satan benefit from his actions. Do not put off a good that you intended to do as you never know how much reward you might receive from the hardships you encounter while trying to achieve that good.

Nice story don’t you think . Try to contemplate this story and think . Think through . I was at the verge of killing myself yesterday . But then i thought, ” Hey Farah . Life’s beautiful . Like what Coach Jaya said . ” God loves me a lot. A lot. If God hadn’t loved me , he would have left me to die just like that and suffer the consequences of my own STUPID actions. To stop my breathing passage . Yeah . But He loved me . God still loves me . I love you Allah . Thank you . Thank you . Thank you .

Narrated Anas bin Malik: While we were sitting with the Prophet in the mosque, a man came riding on a camel. He made his camel kneel down in the mosque, tied its foreleg and then said: “Who amongst you is Muhammad?” At that time the Prophet was sitting amongst us (his companions) leaning on his arm. We replied, “This white man reclining on his arm.” The an then addressed him, “O Son of ‘Abdul Muttalib.” The Prophet said, “I am here to answer your questions.” The man said to the Prophet, “I want to ask you something and will be hard in questioning. So do not get angry.” The Prophet said, “Ask whatever you want.” The man said, “I ask you by your Lord, and the Lord of those who were before you, has Allah sent you as an Apostle to all the mankind?” The Prophet replied, “By Allah, yes.” The man further said, “I ask you by Allah. Has Allah ordered you to offer five prayers in a day and night (24 hours).? He replied, “By Allah, Yes.” The man further said, “I ask you by Allah! Has Allah ordered you to observe fasts during this month of the year (i.e. Ramadan)?” He replied, “By Allah, Yes.” The man further said, “I ask you by Allah. Has Allah ordered you to take Zakat (obligatory charity) from our rich people and distribute it amongst our poor people?” The Prophet replied, “By Allah, yes.” Thereupon that man said, “I have believed in all that with which you have been sent, and I have been sent by my people as a messenger, and I am Dimam bin Tha’laba from the brothers of Bani Sa’d bin Bakr.”

peace.

Fadiyah {Redeemer, Self-Sacrificing }

Peace be upon my muhibbah readers (:

I don’t know why but all of a sudden , i have this urge to write another post. Yet , this time , my post would be touching on the daughter of our Prophet Muhammad( May Peace Be Upon Him ) and his beloved wife Khadijah Binte Khuwaylid .

Fatimah Al-Zahra the daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (May Peace Be Upon Him ) and the wife of Imam Ali ibn Abu Taleb the mother of Imams Hassan and Hussein have contributed more than perhaps any other woman, while she was not more then a young girl. She had all the great and virtuous attributes of the women of respect and honor and more. Her prayers and supplications were no less than the most inspiring words of poetry to the God she adored. Her eloquence of speech, her bravery and strength, her loving tenderness towards her noble father, husband and children are what philosophers still write and speak of in terms of a cure for the ills of today’s society. She was filled with spiritual devotion, as is becoming of any true saint. Her actions were her belief, without fault or mistake. She rose above the frail diversions of this life and was truly the best example for all women throughout all time.

In the shade of her father the Holy Prophet Muhammad( May Peace Be Upon Him ), and in the lap of her chaste and noble mother, Khadijah binte Khuwailid, Fatimah Al-Zahra was born in the holy city of Mecca on Friday 20th Jamadi Thani. She had the spirit of the Holy Prophet, his characteristics and morals. Indeed, she was the complete inheritor of her father. The distinguished relationship between the Holy Prophet(May Peace Be Upon Him ) and his dear daughter attracted the attention of those who lived nearby. They talked about the resemblance between the father and the daughter. The Holy Prophet, who spoke only that which had been revealed to him, addressed Fatimah in these words: Oh Fatimah! Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted, is angered at the one who makes you angry and is satisfied with the one who pleases you.

She was possessing of life, honour, beauty and high stature, living under her father’s care. It was such a unique relationship that it made the Prophet’s later wife Aishah (r.a.), marvel at it and proclaim: Never have I seen anyone more like the Messenger of Allah in his solemn way {of standing and sitting} than Fatimah she added, When she {Fatimah} came in the room to see him, he { The Holy Prophet} would rise to his feet, take her hand, kiss her and seat her where he was seated . And when he came to see her, she would stand up, take his hand, kiss him and seat him where she was seated. Nothing can be said more than that he was born and brought up in the household of the Holy Prophet (s).

Fatimah was the greatest woman with regard to her honour, faith and position in the sight of her Creator. Thus, so many people approached her father asking for her hand in marriage. The caliphs Umar and Abu Bakr were for instance, among those who asked for her hand. Other people among the leading men of the Quraysh tribe thought of asking for Fatimah’s hand in order to achieve the honour of being the son-in-law of the Messenger of Allah. Nevertheless, the Holy Prophet would say to these people, “This matter is yet not divinely settled.” Finally Imam Ali, the son of Abu Taleb approached the Holy Prophet on this matter . The Prophet was extremely delighted.

Fatimah married Ali and the tree of Prophethood bore fruit. Fatimah gave birth to Imam Hassan and then to Imam Hussein, The Prophet welcomed them and named them. Fatimah the noblest of all women , married Ali for his faith, piety trustworthiness and high principles, not for wealth , money and the fading luxuries of this world. She accepted the holy bond with a simple modest mahr (dowry) that smashed the very values of materialism, abrogating its deceptive role in the subject of marriage, replacing it with Islamic values and ideals. Her marriage would no doubt teach the new generations how elusive (false) is the nature of materialism and how it dwarfs before the sublime human values and ideals.

The glory of Al-Zahra towers over any other any other glory. Asceticism(Manner Of Life) and worship of the Creator are two natural traits of the Holy Family of the Holy Prophet, for here were the finest examples of the highest ideals, the greatest Islamic personalities that had ever lived lived on this earth.

Fatimah did not live long after the death of her father’s (May Allah Bless Him ). She was the first from among his family to join him in the afterlife. Fatimah Al-Zahra left this world with pain and grief, leaving both sons and daughters to be brought up by their father Ali.

Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet said, “The keys of the unseen are five and none knows them but Allah: (1) None knows what is in the womb, but Allah: (2) None knows what will happen tomorrow, but Allah; (3) None knows when it will rain, but Allah; (4) None knows where he will die, but Allah (knows that); (5) and none knows when the Hour will be established, but Allah.”

Badiáh { Unprecedented }

May Peace Be upon You Readers.

Let’s start with a simple introduction of me , myself and i .  Well , what do you want to know about an amatullah who still got a lot to learn from the World ? Sometimes I just wish i was Imam Bukhari you know . Then i would not have to worry about memorising stuff (: Come on , that guy’s super A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! Let’s spend a few minutes to talk about this great person whom i must say have inspired me a lot .

His name, ‘Abu Abdillah Muhammad Ibn Ismail Ibn Ibrahim Ibn Al-Mughirah Ibn Bardizbah Al-Bukhari.’ He was born on 13 Shawwal 194 AH / 810 CE after the Jumuah Salaah in Bukhara in the territory of Khurasan (West Turkistan).

Ismail, the father of Imam Bukhari, died during the Imam’s childhood leaving him along with a brother and sister in the care of his mother, where he was nourished with love and care.

Historians relate a remarkable incident that occurred during the Imam’s childhood. He had lost the use of both his eyes. Because of the endless prayers of his mother and the nights spent weeping, the Imam’s sight was miraculously restored. The Imam’s mother was informed by means of a dream in which the Prophet Ibrahim (alaihissalam) had appeared and said:
“Because of your bountiful and sacred prayers, Allah has returned the eyesight of your son.”

Imam Bukhari began to learn traditions (hadith) by heart at the age of ten. His intelligence was already showing at that age, for he is credited with having been able at an early age to correct his teachers.

It was at the age of sixteen, after having memorized the compilations of both Imam Waki and Abdullah Ibn Mubarak, that he made the pilgrimage to Makkah accompanying his mother and elder brother. Upon completing the pilgrimage, the Imam decided to remain in Makkah. He would spend the next six years in Hijaz (Makkah and Madinah) in the pursuit of Hadith (traditions). He traveled widely in search of traditions, visiting the main centers of knowledge, namely Basra, Kufa, Baghdad, Egypt and Syria. Iraq was the place where Imam Bukhari would occasionally return (Kufa and Basra were both historical ‘powerhouses’ of knowledge).

There are a great number of teachers from whom Imam Bukhari gained his knowledge. It is reported that the Imam has heard traditions from 1080 different people, all of whom were Scholars.

The Scholars who taught the Imam were the likes of Muhammad Ibn Salam and Muhammad Ibn Yusuf Baikandi, Abdullah Ibn Muhammad Musnadi, Ibrahim Ibn Ash’ath and even Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal. However, he had mostly benefited from Ishaaq Ibn Rahway and Ali Ibn Madeeni.

Many a story has been told regarding the Imam’s remarkable memory. Many considered his memory to be inhuman! The Imam was able to repeat a hadith immediately after it was recited to him.

During his student years, whilst visiting Baghdad, he had memorized 15,000 traditions in sixteen days. There is another spectacular incident that also took place in Baghdad when the Imam had taken up temporary residence there. People had heard about the Imam’s extraordinary memory. They decided to test him to see if the Imam was worthy of the attributes that were being issued to him. One hundred different ahaadeeth were chosen that had their testimonials and text altered. These altered ahaadeeth were to be recited to Imam Bukhari by ten people. By now, a crowd had gathered to witness the outcome of this deliberate test. One by one, each altered tradition was recited. The Imam remarked at the end of each recital:
“Not of my knowledge.”
After all the traditions had been presented, the Imam demonstrated the power of his memory by correcting the testimonial and text of each tradition in order.

Imam Bukhari had memorized over 200,000 traditions and written over 300,000. Unfortunately, some of these traditions were not genuinely authentic and unreliable, for he was born at a time when traditions of the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) were being forged and distorted either to please kings and rulers or to corrupt the religion of Islam.

It was because of this reason that Imam Bukhari decided to dedicate the rest of his life in compiling a book that would strictly comprise of authentic traditions. The Imam’s mission was further strengthened when he was advised by his respected teacher, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Ishaaq Ibn Rahway to compile such a book that would exclusively contain ‘Sahih’ (authentic) Prophetic traditions.

The Imam’s determination grew stronger after seeing himself in a dream, standing in front of the Noble Messenger of Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim). He had a fan in his hand and was driving away the flies from the Messenger of Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim). After relating the dream to numerous Scholars whom were experts in interpreting dreams, he was told that the dream meant that he would drive away and remove the false traditions that were claimed to have been heard from the Blessed Messenger of Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim). It was this dream that fuelled his determination to compile the book that the world recognizes today as ‘Sahih Al-Bukhari.’

Wherever the Imam went, the compilation of his book would remain constant. At times he was seen compiling his book in Bukhara. Others state that he was seen in Basra. It has also been stated that he was seen writing in both Masjid-ul-Haraam and the Mosque of the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim).

After sixteen years of exceptionally hard work, his famous book had been completed. Despite the excessive number of traditions that the Imam had memorized, he only selected 7275 ahaadith because these were the traditions that held strong testimonials as well as having no doubt in their authenticity. The above number consists of traditions that have been repeated. If the repeated ahaadith were to be excluded, the number of traditions will then become a total of 4,000. It is reported that the Imam would first have a bath then perform two rakat salaah and pray for guidance before inserting a new tradition to his book. The book was reviewed and approved of by great Scholars of his time including Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Ali Ibn Madeeni and Yahya Ibn Mu’een.

The Imam had inherited a fair amount of wealth which he decided to spend in the path of Allah leaving him with no money. He would spend his days on one or two almonds.

In spite of the high status and respect that the Imam was worthy of, he would always search for ways however small they may be, to please Allah. There was one such incident where a man from a crowd inside a Mosque had noticed a feather in his beard. The man removed the feather and threw it on the floor. Imam Bukhari was aware of what the man had done, he looked around to make sure nobody was looking, bent down to pick up the feather and placed it in his pocket. The fact that he had just conducted an act of good had immensely pleased him.

There are lessons to be learned in the piety of Imam Bukhari and the enjoyment that he received from performing salaah. He was once performing the Zuhar prayer. After completing his prayer he began to perform his Nafl. The salaah was performed with complete devotion and composure. Once the salaah had been completed, the Imam turned to face his companions and lifted his shirt asking whether there was anything under it. The crowd saw a wasp fall out leaving seventeen places on the Imam’s body that were swollen and red. The companions were astonished and asked why he had not terminated his salaah, but the Imam replied with an answer that is worth pondering upon. He said that he had felt a certain pleasure in his salaah that made him carry on.

The Governor of Bukhara, Khalid Ibn Ahmad Al-Dhuhli requested the Imam to make visits to the Governor’s home in order to teach his children. The Imam refused, saying that it was an indignity to convey learning to people’s houses. The Imam stressed on the fact that he had greater respect for knowledge than people. A second request was made for the Imam to hold sessions strictly for the Governor’s children. The Imam again refused to give the Governor’s children preferential treatment. This second refusal enraged the Governor; the Imam was therefore expelled from Bukhara.
Hearing Imam Bukhari’s situation, the people of Samarqand invited him to their hometown. Unfortunately, the Imam again suffered opposition and was forced to make his way towards Khartank where he stayed with his relatives.

It was here in Khartank, where he spent his final Ramadhan and on 1 Shawwal 256 AH / 870 CE whilst on a journey from Kartank to Samarqand, that the great Imam Bukhari departed from this world (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return). The body of this great man was buried in Khartank (May Allah shower blessings upon his soul).

Hadith Of The Day : Narrated Al-A’rai: Abu Huraira said, Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, I would love to fight in Allah’s Cause and then get martyred and then resurrected (come to life) and then get martyred and then resurrected (come to life) and then get martyred, and then resurrected (come to life) and then get martyred and then resurrected (come to life).” Abu Huraira used to repeat those words three times and I testify to it with Allah’s Oath.
